SME Tullahoma
Local resources, project ideas and routes to share your work.
These are independent resource links, not claims of active partnerships, sponsored programs or scheduled SME events. Information checked October 28, 2026; confirm current access and dates with each source.
Find background literature
Lannom Memorial Public Library, 312 North Collins Street, provides a route to library services, interlibrary loan and the Tennessee Electronic Library. Use the library’s current page for opening hours and access requirements.
- Write three search phrases for your question, including alternate terms.
- Look for a review article and the original study behind one important claim.
- Record the citation, exact supported claim and any access limits in the citation log.
- Ask library staff about obtaining an article you cannot access; a paywall is not evidence that the paper is irrelevant.
Try a local public-data question
Question: How variable is monthly precipitation across complete years in the Tullahoma station record?
Start at NOAA’s Tullahoma monthly station page, station GHCND:USC00409155. The metadata spans many years; that does not prove that every month is present.
- Choose a fixed year range and download monthly precipitation with units and quality flags.
- Count valid months per year before calculating annual totals. Report incomplete years separately; do not replace blanks with zero.
- Plot monthly values or complete-year totals, showing your inclusion rules and units.
- Check station-history changes and explain why one station alone cannot establish a regional climate trend.
This is a project plan, not a report of local results. Use the measurement preset and planning template to make the decisions explicit.
Find a youth opportunity or funding route
Start with the source-backed directory; exact eligibility and current availability vary. These links do not indicate SME sponsorship or a confirmed place.
- Tennessee Promise — a college-funding route for eligible seniors; read its current deadline and ongoing obligations.
- Appalachian STEM Academy — middle/high-school research in Oak Ridge; Coffee and Franklin counties are included in the county list, with additional student requirements.
- UT Space Institute outreach — have an adult organizer inquire about school or homeschool activities.
- Science Olympiad — ask your school about a team and coaching.
- MTSEF — grade and county restrictions apply; Tullahoma eligibility is unconfirmed.
- Local science scholarship — the verified 2026 deadline is past; no new cycle has been verified.
Plan a presentation route
The Middle Tennessee collegiate meeting’s verified 2026 call is past. A future call has not been verified. The 2026 annual meeting has closed abstract submissions; check attendance availability separately.
Compare regional and national options in the directory, including cost and mentoring requirements. Do not arrange travel based on an old event listing.
A local showcase
A proposed community showcase could bring together homeschool projects, classroom resources and independent studies. Each contribution would show a question or learning goal, the work, evidence and a short explanation by its creator.
Planning concept only: no venue, partner, date, registration or meeting service has been confirmed.
